End of Winter Rummage Sale

It was a rainy day today at the rummage sale, but fortunately we didn’t have to wait in line outside. My mother and I managed to get to the sale early enough so that we were in the front of the line. Let me tell you it was a very long line. That is the thing about these sales, people come from all over to find a good deal. In fact one woman told us that she came all the way from California. She was joking of course, but these are the types of characters that you can meet while waiting in line. Many of these folks have been coming to these sales for years, including my new friend Judy.

I met Judy a few weeks ago at an antique show. She was selling a bunch of old french ivory celluloid and gave me some history about where it came from and when it was made. Judy actually told me that she will be joining North Bridge Antiques as well. It truly is a small world.

As the crowd grew bigger the anticipation of what kinds of goodies were inside was exhilarating. One can only dream. Let me tell you as friendly as everyone is upon arrival , once that door opens their angel wings fly off and out come the horns. I guess I would compare it to the running of the bulls in Spain. People get shoved back and fourth, hands are flying about picking up everything and anything that looks good off of the tables. Every man for them-self is an understatement. In about ten minutes flat the tables are almost empty. If you hesitate for a moment you will walk away with nothing.

Despite the confusion we ended up finding a few cool things including a nice lamp, some old dishes and some other small nick nacks. All in all we had fun and met some new friends. I am sure I will see many of them at the next sale. Until then enjoy the rest of the weekend!!!
