Parisian ephemera

Recently a friend of mine took a trip over to Paris for the week.  Knowing she was headed over I asked her if she wouldn’t mind exploring a few french  flea markets to find me a few goodies to sell or to maybe keep  couple of things for myself as well!!

Much to my delight she was happy to go and check out the flea market, in fact my friend Cindy runs a travel tour company called Art History Alive and regularly take people on tours of Europe. Cindy has been to Europe many times and is I believe fluent in a few languages. You can check her site out in my sidebar links under the travel link. Not only did she find some cool things for me but she actually incorporated it into her tour for her clients as sort of a scavenger hunt. So cool!!

Before she went I gave her a list of things to look for while she was in Paris. The group wound up finding some interesting french ephemera including some great old chocolate advertising cards along with an old Paris steamer trunk label,  a couple of theater brochures and two old paper doll fold outs. Here are the pictures of what she found. I am thinking of possibly enlarging some of the ads in the theater brochures because they are just so cool looking and would be really neat framed and hung in a grouping.  Thanks so much Cindy!! I adore all of  it!! A few of these items will be for sale in the shop. Enjoy!!

    Keri,
So glad that you liked the items from our little shopping spree. My clients and I had such fun as we spread out on the hunt for the items you hoped that we might find. We designated a spot to meet and report on our findings, then together we went back to the various booths, haggled and made our purchases. It was a wonderful sunny, Sunday morning and the market was in Place St. Sulpice, in front of the cathedral of the same name. While we shopped we were able to enjoy the Sunday morning organ recital going on inside the church. In fact, because the pipe organ has 7,000 pipes, the whole neighborhood hears the recital, like it or not.
Another little side note that I always share with my clients is that St. Sulpice, for those who have read The DaVinci Code, is where the Albino kills the nun in the first part of the story. Spooky.
Loved seeing your photos of the booty, as you can tell they brought back some nice memories. Ciao
