A glimpse of Maine part one
After being in Maine for nine days I am ready to share with you some of my pictures from the week. I am going to split up the pictures into two different posts because I have so many pictures. I guess you will just have to wait in anticipation for the second part of the series.
Since I was a child I have spent many summers in Maine. I was fortunate enough to have a grandmother who grew up on the coast. She grew up in a small fishing village called Five Islands. Out of all the places that I have traveled to in the world there is nowhere quite like Five Islands. Most of the island has remained underdeveloped with the exception of a small general store and the main fishing wharf which is a stones throw from my grandmothers house. The pure beauty of the island has always been a refuge for me as well as my family. Unfortunately this summer we could not stay in the house due to a fire we had last fall, so my husband and I decided to rent a cottage right up the hill from our family house. The cottage overlooks a small bay that is incredible. Here are a few shots from the cottage as well as some different parts of the island.
Aside from the sheer beauty of this place the other reason why I wanted to rent the cottage was to explore the many antique shops and flea markets that are in the area. Here are a few shots from my antiquing ventures!! All and all it was a fabulous week for sun, antiques, clams, lobsters, and spending time with family. Enjoy!! Stay tuned for part two.
