A historic day
Even if you aren’t the most politically active person, you couldn’t help but feel euphoric on this truly historical day. I myself have never had a lot of faith in our politicians, but I have a sense that our new president will pull this country together and bring it back to life. There is no doubt he has a long road ahead of him but I am confident that he will do his best and try and fix what didn’t work for us in the past.
I tried to look for a picture of what I thought truly embodied this great day. After much searching I finally came across this picture of a little girl from Alabama holding the American flag. It made me think about the fact that I am having a son soon, and about the pure innocence that a child holds. Yesterday I bought a baby book to write down different things for my son to look at when he is old enough. Things like his family tree, pictures of me when I was pregnant with him, his first ultrasound photos, and a million other details about our lives. There was also a section for important news events. This of course was a perfect place for me to write about today’s events. Someday we will look at the book together and I can tell him all about that great day in history when a great man was elected our president. By that time I hope that the world will be a better place for him to live and that he has every opportunity to become a strong and talented young man. And that may he live in a world without war and economical hardship. That is my wish for him and for all generations to come!!
