Another nursery addition

January 25th, 2009 by Keri

After a few months of looking for an armoire for the nursery, I finally found one on Craigslist. I was so happy because it is an old piece and exactly what I was looking for. The price was great, the one problem with  it was when we got it home it wouldn’t fit up the staircase. Now I am thinking I need to hire a mover who can hoist it in through the window. When we first moved into our house seven years ago we had to do the same thing to get most of our bedroom set in. Not only is it a pain but expensive too. So much for saving some money!! Here is a shot of the piece. I probably will paint it but I don’t want to cover to much of the detail, luckily alot of it is raised so when it’s painted you will still be able to see it all.

After we picked up the armoire we needed to return the rocker we purchased at Babies R Us due to the  color dilemma. When we got it home it barely fit up the stairs and then my husband dropped it and it came smashing into the wall. Yes we now have a lovely hole in the wall, yet again another project to put on the list. Tomorrow my day will consist of patching and sanding the wall to repair it. The fun never ends does it!! Well at least we will have a few stories to tell our son when he gets older about the pure chaos that went into setting up his precious little nursery!!

The last major  furniture item on my nursery to do list is a small vintage bookcase. I am now in the process of picking out wall colors but can’t decide if I will use blue, beige or a combo of the two. Don’t worry you will be the first to know what color I  choose. I have alot of work and painting ahead of me!! Wish me luck!!

Love your blog and reading about your antique business! I received a sweet award and have passed it along to you. Stop by and read - do with it what you wish……kind of like a chain letter- lots of work to pass on. I am always afraid we will drop something down the stairs when we are moving - sorry for your mishap!

Please don’t paint that beautiful armoir!

The armoire is beautiful! I wouldn’t paint it, though, as it will reduce its value. And it’s really quite lovely as is!

That is SO beautiful! Oh I’m in love with that! I have been on the hunt for something like that for Amelia’s new room. The closet in that room is the size of a peanut, so I almost have to have an armoire for clothing. I’m trying to find a somewhat junky one that don’t mind painting! My mouth is watering over this one…
